Maruti Suzuki expresses their sadness at Manesar plant are piling up with the Haryana Government asking the company to pay Rs. 235 crore to Haryana State Industries and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) as compensation to farmers under a Supreme Court order.
HSIIDC in a notice issued on June 25th warned the company that if it did not deposit the requisite amount within three months then the land which has been allotted for Manesar plant shall become liable for recommencement and further action would be taken.
According to HSIIDC, the notice was issued as the firm did not respond to an earlier communication made in March 2012. Divya Kamal, DGM (Estate), HSIIDC, who issued the notice said a eam of the top management officials of the company had already met the Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and HSIIDC's MD Rajeev Arora over the issue.
When contacted, the MSI spokesperson refused to comment. In the first notice issued in the month of March HSIIDC said that they are required to deposit a sum of Rs. 235,40,26,584 calculated at Rs. 1,222 per square metre within a period of 30 days from the date issue of demand notice. The second notice was issued on June 25 and said that the company has neither paid the full amount nor the installment due on April 30,2012. This act has clearly violated the terms and conditions of allotment and calls for initiating appropriate proceedings.
